As my main activity I count my research work in Indian literature, which I combine with various "practical" tasks like teaching, translating, proof-reading, etc.
Since my M.A. course in Moscow State University (1996--1998), I’ve been undertaking a number of translation projects, rendering texts from English/Hindi/Bengali/Urdu into Russian and from Russian/English into Hindi, for different commercial companies, legal advice companies, linguistic firms and translation agencies (“Selena International”), TV-shows, distributorship agencies and film studios (“Filmexpo”, “Mosfilm”, “Triada”, “Kiparis”), publishers (“Dorling Kindersley”, “Bertelsmann Media”), private customers. Since 1998, I’ve been working as a guest translator for the “Cinema Museum” film-club in Moscow, dealing with scripts and/or providing simultaneous translation of Indian “art house” films at regular film-shows and at the time of film festivals (International Moscow Film Festival in 2003 and 2007).
I was also invited, on different formal occasions, to work as an interpreter from/into Hindi by the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Center, Embassy of the Republic of India, Moscow. Throughout the Year of India in Russia (2009), which was celebrated in India and Russian Federation as Year of India in Russia, I was involved in the preparatory activities by the Organizing Committee of this cultural festival (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) as an advisor, translator and editor. I was responsible for supervising the preparation of the explanatory notes and descriptions of events in Russian; and was, also, translating, from English into Russian, the extensive material prepared by the ICCR for the purpose of publishing brochures and programs of the cultural events during the Year of India in Russia. I was, further, participating in the recordings of a voice-over for the Opening Ceremony of the Year of India in Russia, which took place in the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow in March 2009.
Due to several years of active collaboration with a well-know publishing house in Moscow, I have a vast experience as an editor/proof-reader of academic texts. I've developed a critical attitude to the texts I produce, both as an author and a translator, which helps me to provide smooth to read quality translations into Russian.
