Chinese to English: Aboriginal artist Painting Story-Yanjirlpirri(napaljarri)-Warnu Star & Seven Sisters
Source text - Chinese Painting Story:
The Napaljarri-warnu Jukurrpa (seven sisters Dreaming) depicts the story of the seven ancestral Napaljarri sisters who are found in the night sky today in the cluster of seven stars in the constellation Taurus, more commonly known as the Pleiades. The Pleiades are seven women of the Napaljarri skin group and are often depicted in paintings of this Jukurrpa carrying the Jampijinpa man "wardilyka"(the bush turkey [Ardeotis australias]) who is in love with the Napaljarri-warnu and who represents the Orion's belt cluster of stars. Jukurra-jukurra, the morning star, is a Jakamarra man who is also in love with the seven Napaljarri sisters and is often shown chasing them across the night sky. In a final attempt to escape from the Jakamarra the Napaljarri-warnu turned themselves into fire and ascended to the heavens to become stars. The custodians of the Napaljarri-warnu Jukurrpa are Japaljarri/Jungarrayi men and Napaljarri/Nunarrayi women. Some parts of the Napaljarri-warnu Jukurrpa are closely associated with men's sacred ceremonies; Yanjirlpirri Jukurrpa (Star Dreaming) This ceremony tells of the journey of Japaljarri and Jungarrayi men who travelled from Kurlurngalinypa (near Lajamanu) to Yanjirlypirri (west of Yuendumu) and then on to Lake Mackay on the West Australian border. Along the way they performed "kurdiji"(initiation ceremonies) for young men. Women also danced for the "kurdiji". The site depicted in this canvas is Yanjirlypiri (star) where there is a low hill and a water soakage . The importance of this place cannot be overemphasized as young boys are brought here to be initiated from as far as Pitjanjatjara country to the south and Lajamanu to the north. In contemporary Warlpiri paintings traditional iconography is used to represent the Jukurrpa, associated sites and other elements. Often depicted in paintings for this Jukurrpa is the female star Yantarlarangi ( Venus - the Evening Star) who chases the seven Napaljarri sisters for having stolen the night from her.
Translation - English
Chinese to English: Inspection report of steel pipes (partial) General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Mechanics / Mech Engineering
4.1 Steel pipe diameter is measured by using a tape measure in addition to the specialized methods stipulated in the contract for the order of goods. When directly using a steel tape measure at the pipe end, or when using a tape measure to measure the circumference of the steel pipe end or the steel pipe body, one shall place the tape measure perpendicular to the same cross-section of the steel pipe, tighten (straighten) the tape measure, align the numbers on the tape measure, read the circumference data and calculate the diameter.
4.3 Ovality, the ovality is determined by the deviation of the maximum diameter and the minimum diameter measured on the same cross-section. When measuring the steel pipe ovality, use the 3m tape measure or other measurement tools to measure and record the ovality of the steel pipe body and pipe end.
4.4 When examining the straightness deviation of the full length of a steel pipe, one can pull a thin string or a thin metal wire from one end of the steel pipe side to another parallel to the steel pipe axis along the lateral surface of the steel pipe, then measure the maximum distance between the pipe wall and the string or the wire using a steel tape measure or a vernier caliper.
4.5 The length of the steel pipe is measured using a tape measure for each pipe.
4.6 When examining the bevel angle of the steel pipe end, one can set the benchmark to be perpendicular to the central line of the steel pipe and measure the angle using an angle ruler or a welding inspection ruler. Both sides of the steel pipe are required to be measured with data recorded.
