Source text - English Winters used to be cold in England. We, my parents especially, spent them watching the wrestling. The wrestling they watched on their black-and-white television sets on Saturday afternoons represented a brief intrusion of life and colour in their otherwise monochrome lives. Their work overalls were faded, the sofa cover—unchanged for years—was faded, their memories of the people they had been before coming to England were fading too. My parents, their whole generation, treadmilled away the best years of their lives toiling in factories for shoddy paypackets. A life of drudgery, of deformed spines, of chronic arthritis, of severed hands. They bit their lips and put up with the pain. They had no option but to. In their minds they tried to switch off—to ignore the slights of co-workers, not to bridle against the glib cackling of foremen, and, in the case of Indian women, not to fret when they were slapped about by their husbands. Put up with the pain, they told themselves, deal with the pain—the shooting pains up the arms, the corroded hip joints, the back seizures from leaning over sewing machines for too many years, the callused knuckles from handwashing clothes, the rheumy knees from scrubbing the kitchen floor with their husbands' used underpants.
When my parents sat down to watch the wrestling on Saturday afternoons, milky cardamon tea in hand, they wanted to be entertained, they wanted a laugh. But they also wanted the good guy, just for once, to triumph over the bad guy. They wanted the swaggering, braying bully to get his come-uppance. They prayed for the nice guy, lying there on the canvas, trapped in a double-finger interlock or clutching his kidneys in agony, not to submit. If only he could hold out just a bit longer, bear the pain, last the course. If only he did these things, chances were, wrestling being what it was, that he would triumph. It was only a qualified victory, however. You'd see the winner, exhausted, barely able to wave to the crowd. The triumph was mainly one of survival.
Translation - Italian Gli inverni erano freddi in Inghilterra. Noi li passavamo seguendo gli incontri di lotta libera, specialmente i miei genitori. La lotta libera che guardavano nel loro televisore in bianco e nero il sabato pomeriggio rappresentava un lampo di vivacità e colore nelle loro vite altrimenti monocromatiche. Le loro tute da lavoro erano sbiadite. Il copridivano, lo stesso da anni, era sbiadito. Stava sbiadendo anche il ricordo dei ragazzi che erano stati prima di arrivare in Inghilterra. I miei genitori, come tutta la loro generazione, hanno sacrificato alla routine i migliori anni della loro vita, lavorando duramente in fabbrica per quattro soldi. Una vita intera di fatiche, schiene piegate, artriti croniche e mani mutilate. Hanno stretto i denti e si sono rassegnati al dolore. Non avevano altra scelta. Quando i miei genitori il sabato pomeriggio si sedevano davanti al televisore per vedere la lotta libera, fra le mani un tè al cardamomo con latte, erano in cerca di un po’ di distrazione, di divertimento. Una volta tanto, volevano vedere il buono trionfare sul cattivo. Volevano che il bullo spavaldo e ragliante patisse finalmente la sua giusta punizione. Pregavano affinché il buono non cedesse, steso là sul tappeto, bloccato da una presa a due dita o con le mani sulle reni per il dolore. Se solo avesse potuto tenere duro ancora un po’, resistere al dolore, reggere la sfida. Se solo avesse potuto, ci sarebbero state buone possibilità di trionfare, nonostante l’andamento dell’incontro. Una vittoria di Pirro ad ogni modo. Il vincitore, esausto, avrebbe avuto appena la forza di salutare la folla. Una vittoria per la sopravvivenza.

The *** 1733A SAN test modules enable Fibre Channel traffic generation at wire speeds of 2 Gb/s or 4 Gb/s, with allowances for any combination of data, error, link, fabric control and fabric services test. They offer device virtualisation, host bus adapter behaviour emulation, FICON device initialisation and a capture buffer for failure analysis.
Test engineers can use the *** SAN tester to emulate 2,000 devices in a 2U chassis, compared with emulating fewer than 10 actual devices using the same space, at a fraction of the cost. With the dual-speed capability of the 1733A modules, the SAN tester platform can also be used to test current-generation SAN fabrics, saving test equipment costs.
Each test port includes an internal real-time protocol analyser with triggers and filters for protocol debugging, allowing simultaneous traces on multiple ports. Combining analyser capabilities with fabric-performance measurements into one tool lowers overall cost of test.
