I and my agency, Lingua, offer such language services as translating, interpreting, composing, correcting and improving texts.
While I myself translate only from Icelandic or German to English, along with interpreting between those languages, the company Lingua collaborates with mother-tongue translators in a number of languages that are common in the Icelandic market, including Icelandic, English, German, Danish, Norwegian, French and Polish. All our translators have experience in writing for publication. If they are not translating into their native language, the text is always edited by a native colleague.
Often my own job is to check over and edit translations by my colleagues. In every case, someone other than the translator will have reviewed the translation before it is sent to the client. Normally, the original translator will also have had the opportunity to read through the edited text and discuss changes with the editor. The objective is to ensure a polished style and appropriate choice of terms.
