Background

I am an American translator based in Gommenech', France. I have been living in France since 1994. I have accumulated a total of 25 years of translation experience, of which 12 were as an in-house translator and project manager at a local agency. I am now a freelance translator and became a sworn translator in 2019.


Areas of specialization

Although my career has allowed me to do translations in many fields, my main specializations are pharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostics, nuclear power and HVAC-R. Below is a selection of the types of documents I typically translate:

• User's manuals for products ranging from household appliances to medical devices

Commitment

Like many of my fellow translators, I take translation seriously. I only accept jobs that are within my abilities. I guarantee on-time delivery of accurate and idiomatic translations. All ambiguities or errors in source documents sent to me for translation are flagged in a file of comments. I am also a member of SFT and UNETICA and abide by their respective codes of ethical conduct.

In addition to the hands-on aspects of my career, I make it a point to regularly acquire new knowledge and skills by taking training courses, participating in events and interacting with my fellow translators. In addition, I was a member of the committee in charge of organizing the Medical English Seminar, which is held by the SFT every two years in Lyon, France.
