Having been born into a multilingual family, languages have always been a huge part of my life. From as far back as I can remember, it was always my dream to help people from around the world to communicate – I’m happy to say that my dream has come true.
After graduating over 25 years ago I moved to Spain and within a year I was offered a job as a technical translator at Grupo Ingeteam (www.ingeteam.com), a Spanish engineering company. This led to me gaining a position as the Translation Project Manager, working both in-house and remotely for 23 years. My duties involved managing the entire translation workflow for technical manuals, specifications, tenders, adverts, social media, contracts and correspondence along with various other tasks (which can be seen on the following page). Throughout my time there, I was fortunate enough to gain extensive experience in all of the company’s business sectors including renewable energies, mechanical and electrical engineering, automation and telecommunications to name but a few (I invite you to download my CV for my extensive portfolio).
I now freelance full time, giving me the opportunity to reconnect with former clients and other fields I used to enjoy working in as well as making new contacts and gaining experience in new areas.
Most recently, I spent 2 months translating a book on the EU’s Blue Growth Project. It is one of the most interesting projects I’ve worked on and it was a true privilege to have been part of such an important initiative. I am also excited to have been vetted by DA Languages and am now part of their team of freelance community interpreters.
Over the coming months I hope to continue to expand my client portfolio and further my CPD.
