German to English: Excerpt from a feasibility study regarding the replacement of a gas turbine Detailed field: Mechanics / Mech Engineering
Source text - German Excerpt from a feasibility study regarding the replacement of a gas turbine
4.5.5.4 Brenngasbetrieb

4.5.5.4 Gas fuel operation
The combustion temperature of the gas turbine is defined as the combustion gas temperature at the inlet to the first turbine guide stage. The high temperatures in this area of the gas turbine make measuring the actual combustion temperature quite complicated, which is why it is calculated by the turbine’s control unit using known thermodynamic characteristics and the measured waste gas temperature in the gas plenum, the compressor discharge pressure and the ambient air temperature. The distribution of the fuel gas to the diffusion and premix nozzles and the position of the flames is regulated as a function of the calculated combustion temperature. This results in five (5) basic fuel gas distribution conditions in the combustion chamber:
---
Precision bores in the flame tubes enable specific quantities of air to be supplied to cool the combustion gases to the required temperature. The coating on the interior of the flame tubes is cooled through air slots arranged along the entire length of the flame tubes.
