Problem with finding repetitions in tm Thread poster: Lesley Clarke
|
Wordfast has suddenly stopped finding repetitions in the tm.
I am using Wordfast classic 5.53q and have been for a while, but this is a new problem.
It does seem to be entering things into the translation memory because if I do a context search they don't turn up.
Any suggestions? | | |

Sorry Lesley, I'm a little confused. Do you mean they do turn up when you do a context search? Are you by any chance using a TM supplied by a third party? This has happened to me when I've used a TM converted from Trados and supplied by an agency. I didn't get any 100% matches, even though the segments looked identical and did appear when I did a context search. I assumed it was because they were full of tags which were shown in text form in the tmx TM file and so Wordfast didn't recognise them ... See more Sorry Lesley, I'm a little confused. This may not be the case in your situation, but I thought I'd mention it. otherwise try reorganising the TM and see if that helps.
Good luck!

The segments don't seem to be entering the translation memory. And, thanks for the suggestion, but this translation memory is all my own.

Hi Lesley, I was just wondering if you managed to resolve this issue? I have been having the same problem with my Wordfast for the last couple of weeks. I tried reinstalling it, but with no success.
I think the change happened when I used a TM supplied by a client, but now it affects all my TMs.

similar problem with WF Pro | Mar 14, 2011 |
I am having a similar problem with WF Pro. It was working fine but halfway through a document it has stopped recognising matches. They are in the TM but it is not showing them without a search. I then have to enter them manually which is rather annoying and time consuming.
Wordfast hotline is also not working so I'd appreciate it if someone from WF could respond soon. Thank you.
Dear Colleagues,
The first reason to think about is having a valid license. If you work in the demo mode, a TM will stop working after 500 TUs or so. You need to license following the correct steps after logging into your account at wordfast.net
For licensing issues, you can contact Wordfast (www.wordfast.net > about us > contact).

I have a licence | Mar 14, 2011 |
I do have a licence and as far as I remember Wf indicates that this is the problem. However, this time it's just stopped working. There is a lot of repetition in the document but I might as well not use it because it's not finding any matches. Translate all and translate fuzzy just results in blank sections even though those sections have been translated before and I can find them in the memory. A bit frustrating!
getting desperate! | Mar 14, 2011 |
have checked licence and it is fine - tried to send bug report but it won't allow it (error message).
Had a power cut and lost the last 100 or so segments - they are in the memory but WF won't translate the file! Getting desperate now as have lost enough time with the power cut and problems this morning and it still won't work. Hotline is also still not working. Please advise.

I purchased a new licence 5 months ago, so this certainly isn't the issue in my case.
I'm currently working my way through the user manual, and I think I probably messed up the settings by opting to save changes to wordfast.ini after using a client TM. I am going to try reinstalling WF yet again and reading the manual a bit more thoroughly. I have been using WF for at least 8 years, but haven't come across this before, so maybe a client sent me a TM with some particularly strange settings!

No, Sonia, I haven't managed to solve it, though it is an intermitent problem.
And I too have a valid license and have had for years.
Same problem as well | Apr 2, 2011 |
Has anybody found a solution? I have the same problem on Wordfast Pro today (never had it before): even if I do a Tm lookup, it tells me "nothing found": but the segment is there, I just translated last week!!!! :-/
NMR (X) France Local time: 06:12 French to Dutch + ... I had this problem once | Apr 2, 2011 |
With a TM coming from a third party which used Trados.
The solution was to read the TM with a text editor (Notepad++ or Word) and to delete or replace all codes such as &tA;o&tB;&'&'92;; in order to have plain, clear text, and than save it again into a text file and reorganize.
In my case the problem was in &'92; but I never have had it again, so I think this problem has been solved.
