In Mexican (and...?) Spanish the word is mercadotecnia. I don't know about other countries. If the client is within the U.S. or Tijuana, I'd stick with márketing (sic). If the client is neither in Mexico nor the US but wants the "marketing" pronunciation rather than mercadotecnia, I'd go for the "márquetin" spelling. If the client is in Mexico but not in Tijuana, I'd encourage them to let you say mercadotecnia.

La RAE propone la adaptación gráfica "márquetin", sobre la que consultas, y sugiere sustituirla por "mercadotecnia", como ya se ha propuesto en otras respuestas. Sin embargo, ya que tu pregunta se refiere a su uso, la realidad, al menos en España, es que la voz inglesa sigue siendo muy extendida. No hay más que hacer una simple búsqueda en cualquier diario de tirada nacional o especializado en economía y finanzas y comparar la frecuencia con que aparece la voz inglesa y la adaptación propuesta por la RAE.
