live well

Aerators and live wells are designed to keep the fish you catch alive until you reach the shore as well as keep your live bait - well - live. If you plan on fishing with minnows or other baitfish, having an aerator or a live well is essential..

live well

A live well is a tank to keep the catch alive on fishing boats. This gives sports fishermen the option of releasing a fish when a bigger one is caught under number limit restrictions, and commercial fishermen the option of preserving their catch until they reach shore.

This is the U.S. English term... not sure about U.K.

Hope this helps!
