Spanish term

Furriel

Spanish to English Other Military / Defense
I would like to know the best translation of this phrase from Peruvian Spanish into American English.

Translator colleagues from Spain, feel free to send me your suggestions as well. This is a translation of a Peruvian security guard.

Here is the full paragraph for your review:

Yo era un furriel cuando presté el servicio militar en El Perú. Yo presté el servicio militar de 1984 a 1986.

Thanks for your help Miss Dalglish. Yes, this makes sense. Thanks again for your help.
Taña Dalglish Jan 18, 2022:
Got it now. In Peru, "FURRIEL. En Perú, es un sargento segundo o cabo que trabaja en la preparación de la documentación" as I said in the link above. The definitiion comes from Wiki: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furriel So, according to this link: http://www.uniforminsignia.org/?option=com_insigniasearch&It... Sargento Segundo is a "Second Seargent" or the individual may be a Corporal too (this is Peru, so it may differ from country to country). But the "Furriel" in Peru prepares documentation, according to the Peruvian definition, if that makes sense?
yugoslavia (asker) Jan 18, 2022:
He served in the Peruvian Military. Miss Dalglish, he served in The Peruvian Army when he was younger. In Latin American you need to serve for around one year or one year and a half. In some countries this is an obligation. He is a professional security guard and he worked in overseas for some years.
Taña Dalglish Jan 18, 2022:
Yugoslavia You said in your text that the individual is a "Peruvian security guard". Just reconfirming that the individual is "ex-military" (use of the word "era")?
yugoslavia (asker) Jan 18, 2022:
Thanks for your help Miss Dalglish. Thanks a lot. I appreciate it.
It's very helpful.

corporal

Por la definición wiki, me parece que son 2 niveles de la base: private > specialist > corporal. Se encarga de suministros y de nombrar cierto personal.

corporal is used in both us and uk armies: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranks_and_insignia_of_NATO_arm...
Note from asker:
Thanks for your help. Is this correct for American English? I notice that you were raised in Spain and you are Indian origin. I know they study mostly British English in both counties. Thanks again.
Thanks for the explanation. I appreciate it.
