Spanish term

la ley del que dispara primero

Spanish to English Art/Literary Journalism
En Ciudad de Dios impera la ley del que dispara primero.

I know what it means and that you could translate it as "prevails the law of the one that shoots first", but I know there must be a way of saying this so that it sounds as colloquial as it does in spanish. Thank you...

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Jul 6, 2005:
Thank you very much to all... I ended up using something similar to "shoot first ask later", which seemed to fit better than the others. Thanks again!

You're right, of course. I didn't catch the rhyme amongst the alternative readings and thought I was adding something new. Sorry. Thanks!
