Italian term

scandita dal cambio meditato

Italian to English Other History traditional dress
Context - blurb on traditional costumes and dress on a museum website

It's probabllly staring me in the face but I am having difficulty unravelling the meaning of "scandita dal cambio meditato" in the following sentence:

È la donna il centro d’indagine privilegiato, nell’attribuire all’abito un portato simbolico importante, nella paziente creazione del corredo, nel suo trasferimento e nel rimanere il punto focale della trasmissione della tradizione, scandita dal cambio meditato dell’abbigliamento.

Thanks.

marked by a carefully pondered change of dress

This is the meaning. The Italian form is a bit confused, with all these coordinates. "scandita" relates to "tradizione", whereas "meditato" means that choosing a dress over another used to be a considered plan.
I would turn the sentence maybe..
