A szakfordítói képesítés (qualification/certificate) megszerzéséhez előírt záródolgozatot jelenti.

"....translation was not available as a degree subject on its own;
- the certificate entitled the holder to work as a professional translator;
- the certificate was recognised as equivalent to a certificate obtained in the advanced level state examination (the highest level foreign language examination in Hungary) in the foreign language concerned.
Most of the translator training was provided by language teachers who had been teaching in the respective universities for years and had various amounts of knowledge of technical terminology in the respective specialty and various amounts of experience in technical translation. Many of them had taken a course in translation themselves in the first and only translator training institution in Hungary, ELTE FTCS (Translator Training Department of ELTE University, Budapest), which offered postgraduate courses in translation from 1973. In some universities basic orientation courses were organized for language teachers. In many institutions faculty from various departments who knew foreign languages were also involved, and some institutions were able to procure the services of practising translators and interpreters.
The number of contact hours varied from institution to institution, the total number appromimating one thousand in ten semesters (the standard length of studies in Hungarian universities), with 6 to 10 lessons per week. The most important subjects included in the curriculum were language improvement, cultural background studies, translation theory, translation techniques, Hungarian grammar and stylistics and „special language” (mostly aimed at the acquisition of terminology through reading special language texts, but also involving the study of „special language functional style” and oral discussion of topics related to the students’ specialty).
The studies were concluded by a final examination consisting of an oral and a written examination. The students were also required to submit a 20-page „qualifying translation”, usually marked by an outside specialist (not a language teacher)."
