German term

geschlossene Immobilieninvestments

German to English Bus/Financial Real Estate
Anleger der Geschlossenen Immobilieninvestments erzielen höhere Rendite als erwartet.
Die Objekte stammen teils aus Geschlossenen Immobilieninvestments, teils aus dem eigenen Bestand.

The text is a press release from an Austrian bank after the sale of several large real estate properties to an investment fund. I saw the term "real estate investment trust", but I'm not sure whether this is the correct meaning.

closed-end real estate fund

if I remember correctly, closed-end funds are peculiar in that they may often trade at a premium to their Net Asset Value, differing from open-ended funds. so this makes sense here.

however, a REIT is a very particular/special investment vehicle so I would be hesitant to use that here.

wikipedia says that REITs will be introduced in Germany in 2007.

closed REITs

doch, du hast recht, es gibt die offenen und geschlossenen REITs, real estate investment trusts.

neutral TonyTK : The problem is that they may not be closed-end REITs but simply conventional closed-end real estate funds - particularly as REITs have (AFAIK) not yet been approved in Austria. The German term darnott is looking for is far too vague ...

disagree RobinB : With Tony. Definitely "closed-end", but not (yet) REITs. Simply "closed-end real estate funds".
