German term
berüchtigt
German to English
Bus/Financial
Business/Commerce (general)
Auch unsere Incentive-Reisen sind einzigartig und berüchtigt.
This is an events-management company talking about itself.
Is it possible for "berüchtigt" to have positive connotations? I can't believe that any company would want to describe any of its services as "infamous" or "notorious".

Comment: "I think I'll stick to the safe side and go for "legendary". Thanks to everyone for all their suggestions."

"berüchtigt" is impossible in this context;
a suggestion: unique and well-reputed

"Berüchtigt" kann ja z. B. durchaus auch "allbekannt" heißen.

This is equally ambiguous, though in this context will be taken as positive

: this would be my pick too, because it gives you the possibility to explain what is meant by 'berüchtigt'

no simple solution...
It's a tongue-in-cheek thing, martineh. What they want to say is that on their incentive tours a lot of people have a lot of (maybe not so innocent)fun. It can also mean that they are simply exceptionally lavish. So "berüchtigt" does have positive connotations here, and somehow you will have to work the elements of fun and lavishness into your translation.
Mind you, this is my interpretation without further context. However, if somebody around here says of somebody else "Seine Partys sind berüchtigt", than this is exactly what he means.

: that's how I would interpret it too, but I can't think of a good English term

Neither can I, Tamara. I just wanted to point martineh in the right direction.

Caution is required - see Volkmar's comments - but I have come across "notorious parties" in a tongue-in-cheek and/or positive context. The problem is that one also comes across it in entirely negeative contexts. Should be all right if the rest of the text has a light enough tone, which I guess is probably the case here.

: sounds OK in this context - after all, they used berüchtigt for a reason
