Government department/national institution
This phrase occurs in an awards speech, talking about places the recipient has worked. I need a short phrase (just a few words) to sum up what the "Mobilier national" is. "French National State Furniture Department" perhaps? Can anyone come up with a better idea? Thanks in advance for any help.

Of course you can leave the French as is. But you asked for a translation but leave it in brackets if using.

"Mobiler national"
You can leave it that way in French, but it isn't "movable heritage"

Government agency for France's state furniture and decorative arts collection
The Mobilier national is a service à compétence nationale (meaning that it has a government function and is affiliated to a government department or ministry) and it seems to be dedicated to the furnishing of state buildings and to the conservation of France's decorative arts heritage.
