French term

endoalvéolie

French to English Medical Medical: Dentistry clinical dental anatomy
The following is an extract. I have no problem in understanding that this refers to a condition in which the alveolar processes are directed lingually, so that the teeth impinge on the lateral border of the tongue. I just cannot find an equivalent anatomical term in English for 'endoalvéolie', in any of my anatomical textbooks. Can anyone help? My deadline is 16th Dec 9am.

(maxillary) linguoversion

I am unable to find "linguoversion of the alveolar processes" so think we must use maxillary in the English translation.

Endognathie: anomalie basale.

actually your phrase is

endoalvéolie maxillaire et mandibulaire

so perhaps the best translation would be

Note from asker:
Dear Drmanu49 Many thanks for your helpful answer. In the end I chose to use the term 'linguoversion' as I understand that transverse deficiency applies to conditions other than 'endoalvéolie'; also I cannot find any English text that uses 'endo-alveoli' as a term (of course there may be references that I haven't located). Best, Sue
