French term

désenclavement

French to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering
L’achèvement du ***désenclavement ***routier est prolongé par un ***désenclavement ***de la communication électronique.

The only translation that I found is "opening up". I wonder if there are other possibilities to say it, in particular, in this context.

improved road communications ... electronic communication

Yes, it's one of those things that has no one-on-one English equivalent, so you have to box clever. Basically it amounts to "improved communications" of one kind or another, or "greater accessibility", etc.

agree David Goward : If the text is about the asker's local area, then that's right... there's one dual carriageway being planned and laid for every Brit in the local Super U at the moment!

linking up

Not an easy one - I'd turn it on its head and use a positive word - I think "linking up to the road network" might work, especially as you could parallel it with "linking up to electronic communication systems".
