French term

créance

French to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
Accessible via internet, (our software) offre une gestion du contrat interactive permettant un partage personnalisé de l’information en temps réel entre le client, le distributeur et notre société (credit insurance). L’assuré peut vérifier la solidité financière de ses clients ou prospects et éviter ainsi le risque de non paiement d’une créance.

Is it better to translate créance here as debt, debt obligation, receivable, claim?
Are these terms equivalent in this context?

Discussion

veratek (asker) May 4, 2011:
answers? How about adding at least one of your comments as answers? They were both helpful and I will need to close the question.
Julie Barber May 4, 2011:
or use something like "monies owed", which covers all cases.
rkillings May 4, 2011:
Leave it out Just stop the sentence at 'risk of non-payment'. Seriously: in this context, "d'une créance" adds nothing that isn't already understood.

any monies owed or omit

agree with Julie (see discussion) that "monies owed" covers all possibilities or like rkillings (discussion) believe it can be omitted entirely as sentence translated to..." non-payment" is perfectly understandable

Thanks. Yes, Julie and/or rkillings should have posted!
Peer comment(s):

neutral B D Finch : It might have been more courteous to have let either Julie or rkillings submit this answer, rather than copying it from their discussion entries.

claim

non-payment of a claim
Peer comment(s):

disagree Julie Barber : There is nothing in the the text to say that it's a claim, which would probably come after an initial non-payment.
