French to English Art/Literary Archaeology ancient art
Hi again!
DOC: 1907 Museum catalog of ancient Egyptian mirrors. Catalog entry.
CONTEXT: 44079. Disque de miroir. - Bronze. (pl. XIX).
ATTEMPT: Perhaps is not too imprudent/It may not be too unrealistic/audacious/bold to infer from this that the mirrors from the Mit-Rahina series have handles of the type represented here.
ISSUE: I'm having trouble with getting the wording and tone correct. I don't think "foolish" or the like would be appropriate here, but perhaps I'm wrong?
Thanks in advance for any opinions!

neutral Nikki Scott-Despaigne : My suggestion is along these lines but although reasonable translations of the French, I think Barbara Cochran is correct: suggestions of this sort are a little too formal. English would be a little more straightforward and probaby avoid a negative.

It is reasonable to infer that

I would turn the negative statement into a positive one.
Peer comment(s):

agree Barbara Cochran, MFA : Yes, "to infer from this" is what I would go with.

it would not be lacking temerity to infer that

"Temerity" is often used with "to lack".
Peer comment(s):

neutral Barbara Cochran, MFA : A bit too formal of a way to express the phrase, IMO.

Quite probably.
neutral Jennifer White : Why "lacking"? Where do you get that from?
