There is very little context as it is an excel table but it's about a calibration report with master meter method. The temperature and the pressure is measured, a volume and meter pulses and meter factor are indicated. I hope this helps

@ David Yes, that's another possible interpretation, and I think probably a more plausible one. We don't know what this 'meter' is for (that context alone would be a great help!), but using some form of 'mechanical displacement' for testing it would indeed be logical.

Hi again, I see the device in question as a meter tester for water or gas flow, etc., which works by mechanical displacement. IOW, it's effectively a device to check that a meter is working accurately.

@ Asker It's almost impossilbe to tell from so little context, so maybe you can glean some clues from the descriptive text for this item.

Purely linguistically, I'd have thought this was a 'prover' for the 'meter' that measures 'mechanical displacement'; however, other interpretations of the word order are equally feasible.

It may help to know just what sort of equipment your document is dealing with? In my experience, 'prover' is a relatively unusual term encountered in only certain specific fields; knowing that might help to better understand what this 'mechanical displacement meter' is all about.

Sorry for the capital letters I didn't know about it, as I just copy-pasted it from the original "sentence". My question: what is the link between mechanical displacement and meter prover. Does it mean that the meter prover has a mechanical displacement or that it controls a mechanical displacement or how should it be understood?
