Hola a todos,
Me parece que hay un juego de palabras aquí, o probablemente sí sea un dicho en inglés. Me cuesta identificar cómo poríamos llamarlo en español sin perder la idea.
El contexto trata sobre avionetas que sobrevuelvan cultivos (para fumigar)
"There were frequent air accidents from other causes, mostly from hitting trees. It was here that I first heard the term "snag orchards". These were partially cleared cotton fields with an overbundance of dead trees scattered profusely across them. In this airplane, chances of snagging one were good."

En principio solo se me ocurre hacer una traducción explicativa que suene natural en castellano.

El sentido de “snag” es metafórico. Uno de los significados de la palabra es “enganchar”, lo que sugiere que el nombre “snag orchard” procede de la tendencia de los aviones a quedarse atrapados o estrellarse entre los árboles. Me he arriesgado un poco en mi traducción sugerida y quise darle un sentido similar comparando a los árboles con púas o espinas que enganchan o atrapan. De cualquier forma la expresión “snag orchard” no es un término técnico, sino una muestra del uso creativo del idioma.
