This is a poem by Charles Bukowski. I believe this is an L.A. Radio program. Question is, would you translate it, and if so, how? O would you leave it as such? As usual, I'm trying to convey the whole of it, onto the Spanish version... thank you, and, Anabel, yes, it is a beautiful poem...
Context:
one for the shoeshine man
the balance is preserved by the snails climbing the
Santa Monica cliffs;
the luck is in walking down Western Avenue
and having the girls in a massage
parlor holler at you, “Hello, Sweetie!”
the miracle is having 5 women in love
with you at the age of 55,
and the goodness is that you are only able
to love one of them.
the gift is having a daughter more gentle
than you are, whose laughter is finer
than yours.
the peace comes from riding a
blue 67 Volks through the streets like a
teenager, radio tuned to **The Host Who Loves You
Most**, feeling the sun, feeling the solid hum
of the rebuilt motor
as you needle through traffic.
the grace is being able to like rock music,
symphony music, jazz…
anything that contains the original energy of joy.

los cuarenta principales "su emisora amiga"

Yo creo que en la traducción de poemas no es tan determinante la literalidad. Rechazaría una solución con nota a pie de página. No recuerdo el autor ahora mismo, pero alguien dijo de forma muy graciosa que "las notas a pie de pagina son como escupideras" y en la traducción de poesía hasta orinales.
Observa que e la frase anterior el autor habla de un "67 Volks". Podrías traducir "un Volks 67" und "Volkswagen del 67. Pero sabemos que en el 67 Volks no significaba otra cosa que "un escarabajo del 67"

Así que Volks tampoco queda bien. No te digo que escarabajo sea la solución definitiva, pero poéticamente hablando es una palabra sugerente. Te podría quedar una frase como "dar vueltas en un escarabajo del 67 como un adolescente,la radio en sintonía" y en el fondo da igual qué es lo que suena de la radio.

After the Beetle's boom years in the late 1960s, its sales began to decline. In 1967, the transporter underwent major design changes, and in 1969 on US Export Beetles, VW added CV joints in the rear of the car in an effort to improve high speed stability on American highways. The traditional swingaxle system worked Ok, but at high speeds tended to lose stability. In 1971, Volkswagen developed a *new* car called the Super Beetle. The Super Beetle had modern MacPherson struts in the front instead of the older transverse beam arrangement it had since the 1930s: this new suspension allowed the trunk to be deeper, thus creating more luggage space in the front trunk. The Super Beetles of '71 had the same windshields as the standard Beetles did, but from '72-'74, a wrap around curved windshield was implemented. These were the only Beetles to have anything in the way of a real dashboard. Super Beetles were smoother cruisers on the highway, but did not make good Baja Beetle platforms. Ever increasing US government regulations on safety and emissions controls pushed the Beetle to its limits. The Beetle could not be adapted to keep up with the other cars in the industry. Volkswagen stopped production of the Beetle sedan in 1977, and stopped production of the cabriolet in 1979.

* In 1967, when the Beetle got disc brakes at the front and a new bonnet, this model was and is recognized as one of the best Beetles ever made.
In the 1970, the other competitive branches got "too close on the Beetle's wheels" by introducing new modern models. Volkswagen also developed a few new models like Karmann-Ghia and Volkswagen Transporter.
