English term

considerando tener ERC

English to Spanish Other Mathematics & Statistics
This is a case-control study on risk factors for CKD, from Mexico. They have made a predictive model for developing CKD to be used in primary care. I am lost with this sentence, which relates to the design of the study.

So, what I undestand this to mean is that for each person with CKD there is another control without it (1:1), thought they are "unpaired". Any additional input on this word choice/concept is welcome!

Discussion

Dr Jane Marshall (asker) Feb 25, 2016:
Glad I´m not the only one who thinks that!
philgoddard Feb 25, 2016:
I wonder if there's something missing from the Spanish. It doesn't look right to me.
Dr Jane Marshall (asker) Feb 25, 2016:
Specifically, it is the "considerando tener" that I cannot grasp the meaning of. Perhaps "considering those who have CKD..." but it just sounds strange to me!

See the first link for the list of input parameters to a typical program that calculates the required sample size for an unmatched case-control study. The underlying formula will be something like seen here

So "considerando" is in the case that i.e. considering, taking into account ...

Thanks neilmac. Yes, there may be a missing bit, but I'm pretty sure that's the sense.
