Nolo contendere:(S/Black's): I will not contest it. The name of a plea in a criminal action, having the same legal effect as a plea of guilty, so far as regards all proceedings on the indictment, and on which the defendant may be sentenced.
Plea of nolo contendere: one which has the same effect as a "plea of guilty" in so far as regards the proceedings on the indictment, and it is a confession only for the purposes of the criminal prosecution and does not bind the defendant in a civil suit for the same wrong.
