The chairperson further testified that the CSE had not specified whether the child's related services were to be "push-in" (i.e. provided in the child's classroom), or "pull-out" (i.e., provided to the child in a separate location). The chairperson indicated that it was within the discretion of each related service provider to determine the nature of the services.

Push-In/Pull Out
These terms refer to support services where a teacher or support staff person come into the classroom to work with a student, or whether the student is taken out of class for support. In addition to our guidance counselors, we have a team that consists of social worker Linda Stern and psychologist Robert Fantry. The team is in the mini-school building behind the main building at 330-9262. An important role of the SBST is to help identify successful intervention for at-risk children so that they can remain in a regular classroom. They provide direct services to students at risk and evaluate children who may have special learning, social or emotional needs. School personnel or parents can refer children to the team. An educational planning conference is held upon completion of the evaluation, at which test results are shared with parents and appropriate school personnel, and recommendations are made.
