kilotonne
As 'tonne' is by default metric, there is no need to specifically state that in a metric culture.
And of course, this is just a large unit of 'thousands of tonnes' (cf. megaton for nuclear bombs etc.)

Even though 'kiloton' is relatively unusual in everyday FR, and most often carries the connotation of nuclear bombs etc., it is nonetheless a perfectly acceptable SI unit for referring to a thousand tonnes (1,000 t), finding special application in fields like mining, one of the few fields where such large quantitites are common.
