ward tower

Danes use the word "tårn" in places where it would not be used in English. It does refer to a building of course, but it does not necessarily have to be very tall. A ward building with, for example, 5-6 floors, could be called a tower. Some are quite tall, like the "bogtårnet" at Statsbiblioteket in Aarhus, maybe 10 floors, I am not sure.
Peer comment(s):

agree Christine Andersen : Quite right. There is in fact a very tall building at Herlev Hospital. I have never been there, but it is quite a landmark and can be seen from a large surrounding area.

in-patient tower

I believe it refers to a tall building where patients have their rooms.
