He means that he will go down into history by means of his deed, not writing.

Thanks for your suggestion Saleh, however, its not a very common phrase in Engilsh - if you notice, there are only 1030 references given. I guess the main question is since he used the preposition في does he mean he is going to make his mark in history by way of his actions, or is he referring to recording the process of what he is going to do?
