Yes, many times Jul 12, 2013

I handle almost all the Spanish workload for AppLingua.com since their very start, and it seems to be a very profitable niche

I'm doing quite a few at the moment for ones based on children's TV programmes. I enjoy doing them.

A simple no is missing Jul 12, 2013

I voted other because I haven't translated any apps, I am not especially interested in doing it, but if one comes along, I would do it. Work is work.

No but I'm interested Jul 12, 2013

So many people use smartphones at present, that's why I'd like to localise smartphone apps.

Localizing mobile apps Jul 12, 2013

in order to translate smartphone apps (e.g. to see that the translation fits the available space and is consistent with the visuals)? Or are the clients (direct clients, even) happy to take care of that at their end?

When it comes to mobile apps, the client may opt for outsource the text elements to any technical translator of their choosing, or they may prefer to have the app localized with the help of a technical translator. In the latter case, it pays to have the mobile device to test the app and troubleshoot.

yes, several apps marketed toward tourists Jul 15, 2013

In one case, a major book publisher is steadily adding digital products to its catalogue and is actively producing app versions of its printed guidebooks.

In another case, an entrepreneurial organisation is developing a public transportation app for tourists and commuters in major cities.

In another case, an entrepreneurial organisation is developing a public transportation app for tourists and commuters in major cities.

In both cases, I was only asked to translate the text and the tasks of formatting and fitting the text to the available space were left to others. I did make a point however to try to keep my translations as close to the length of the originals as possible, but this was a common-sense decision on my part; the clients did not request it.
