See more THE LODZ SESSION OF THE 6TH INTERNATIONAL MAASTRICHT-LODZ DUO COLLOQUIUM ON TRANSLATION AND MEANING 18-19 SEPTEMBER 2015 The Lodz Session of the 6th International Maastricht-Lodz Duo Colloquium on "Translation and Meaning" will be organized by the Institute of English Studies of the University of Lodz, Poland. The Lodz session will be held at the Faculty of Philology/Institute of English Studies of the University of Lodz, 171/173 Pomorska Street, 90-236 Lodz. The 2015 Lodz Session will be geared towards theory, and will deal with theoretical aspects of the central theme of the Duo Colloquium and the sub-themes suggested for it. Participation is open among others to translators, interpreters, teachers of translation, teachers of interpreting, linguists, terminologists, terminographers, computer specialists, lexicographers and publishers. A selection of the contributions will be published as a volume with Peter Lang. The conference sub-themes are: A) meaning in translation/interpreting from the point of view of: - cognitive sciences (e.g. think-aloud protocols and other modes of reflection, prototypicality, etc.)
- computer-assisted translation training, electronic teaching/learning environments, distance teaching./learning
- corpus linguistics and language corpora
- history of translation
- lexicology, lexicography
- local translation/interpreting programmes
- machine translation, machine-aided translation, other computer aids, combinations of computer aids
- new theoretical/practical developments
- philosophy / the philosophy of language, etc.
- pragmatics, semantics, semiotics
- psycholinguistics, psychology
- sociolinguistics/sociology and minority status, institutionalised multilingualism, interculturality, cultural identity
- software localisation
- subtitling, dubbing and other forms of audiovisual translation
- terminology, conceptuology, expert systems (e.g. term-word distinction, automated term extraction, etc.)
- text linguistics (e.g. text typology, text analysis, etc.)
- the interplay between theory and practice
- translation theory, translation studies
- various types of translating/interpreting
- the relation between translator/interpreter and client/customer
- the student of translation/interpreting
- the translation trainer/the trainer of interpreting
- the translator/interpreter
