Does anyone have any experience with Wordscope? It's a web-based CAT tool. It's user manual is very sparse, but their "blog" contain more information.

I see ProZ.com added a support subforum for Wordscope recently:
https://www.proz.com/forum/2251

They have three membership levels, but their website does not contain a table comparing these three levels. So here it is, as far as I can tell:

wordscope

* MT engines: Translated.net, My Memory, DeepL Pro, Tradooit, Google Translate, AmazonMT, ReversoMT (can also connect to ModernMT if you have an API key for it)
* Public term bases: 23 (mostly EU languages) plus Wordscope's own public term base
* Public TMs: Wordscope's own, MyMemory

I have no idea what "limited" ChatGPT means. ChatGPT appears to work in my test bronze account without any fuss, except that the ChatGPT response is generated in slow mode, i.e. not the entire response instantaneously. The ChatGPT pane basically allows you to select a word or type a word and then click from a list of about 12 questions. The ChatGPT reply then appears in the pane.

Possibly unlimited glossaries. Import and export XLSX glossaries. Glossaries have only two fields: source term and target term. You can choose to which glossary a new term is added.

It automatically inserts the highest TM match when you reach a segment, but does not automatically insert any MT match.

TM and MT matches are shown in the same dialog. The glossary view, concordance search, TM/MT view and ChatGPT dialog all occupy the same screen area, so you can only see one of them at a time. The ChatGPT view has a button to activate it but selecting the other items are done on a tab bar.

Apparently there is a feature called "Wordscope Quality" but I "reached the limited of my subscription" (on a bronze membership) after translating 5 segments, and honestly I don't even know what it is.

Is it geared towards freelancers? Dec 2, 2024

Whenever I see a monthly price like 39 EUR/month, my immediate reaction is to think that the tool is not aimed at solopreneurs and freelancers.

I believe Wordfast Anywhere, at 10 EUR/month (or lower if you pay for a whole year in advance) for unlimited access (or 0 EUR for 15.000 words/month) is a much better deal. The upside is its extensive documentation, its extensive instructions in the tool itself and its general versatility and simplicity. The downside is the slow pace of bug-

The upside is its extensive documentation, its extensive instructions in the tool itself and its general versatility and simplicity. The downside is the slow pace of bug-fixing and some behaviours that come from Wordfast Classic, like having to "close" a segment before moving to a different one, which presents you with four (!) different methods of closing.

PS: Is Wordscope based on MateCat? The two tools look rather similar.

Comparing two tools solely based on price is a bit of a shortcut. Jan 29

Dear Epameinondas,

Have you tried Wordscope?

Dear Epameinondas,

Have you tried Wordscope?

Comparing two tools solely based on price is a bit of a shortcut. Just like all cars have four wheels, that doesn't mean you should buy the cheapest one available.

All the services included in Wordscope (MT providers, ChatGPT, etc.) cost us more than $10 per user and are included without limit in our Silver and Gold subscriptions!

This comprehensive assistance helps translators significantly increase their productivity. We have users who have told us that they have doubled their turnover since using Wordscope.

I believe they are very happy with our subscription prices

Feel free to try it on https://pro.wordscope.com and send us your feedback or questions at [email protected]

ps: You can even use Wordscope for free (!) if you are only doing up to 3 projects per month.

Best
Philippe
