Translation - English Rice is served in a traditional container in this restaurant. More than two servings of rice were found in it steaming hot. Not necessarily you eat them all, nor are you expected to ask for more. Still, it fills me with a good feeling to have plenty of steamed rice in front of me. They say they are not particularly fixated on rice, but it is made properly, not too soft.
Love for the restaurant
The place is situated in an ally in Yaesu district where affordable eateries huddle together. It is slightly difficult to find, but I love this part of the town. Hourai is a tiny local restaurant – there are 6 tables seating 4 each and a round table for 5-6 people. It is open until quarter to 3, and middle aged business men come in one by one to eat well after 2 pm.
When tables become free here and there, wife of the late owner who is Mr. O’s mother and an employee start polishing stainless holders for serviette with a cloth. They also wipe the front and back of menus with care, which shows their love for the restaurant. Looking at them from behind warms my heart for some reason.
