I started as a full-time freelancer translator in 2009, and still love the job.
I have worked in the automotive industry for five years (Toyota dealer) as Technical Adviser, where 40% of the customers were speaking English, in a very French environment. In those five years, I have worked in different positions: Customer Service Director, Claim Manager, and Technical Adviser. I have also worked in a private club for five years, where I build different bilingual master flyers that were mailed to members every month. I have also worked as an Administrative Assistant for three years at the Head Office of a Telecom company. This company had 13 branches throughout Canada.
I followed a course in administration and accounting. I'm a fast typist (95 words per minute), and do think it's a MUST for a fast turnaround time. Being a fast typist doesn't mean that quality is left behind.
J'ai travaillé pendant dix ans dans le domaine automobile où les anglophones représentent 40% de la clientèle et où les techniciens parlent peu anglais. Pendant ces années, j'ai travaillé à différentes positions : Directrice du Service à la Clientèle, Responsable des Réclamations et Aviseurs Techniques. J'ai aussi travaillé pendant cinq ans dans un club privé où j'ai mis sur pied différents encarts bilingues, ceux-ci étaient postés de façon hebdomadaires à tous les membres du club. J'ai aussi occupée le poste d'adjointe administrative au Siège Social d'une entreprise de télécommunication pendant trois ans. Celle-ci possédait 13 succursales à travers le Canada.
J'ai suivi une formation en administration et comptabilité. Je tape rapidement (95 mots minute), et je crois que c'est un AVANTAGE lorsque l'échéance est importante. Le fait d'être rapide ne veut pas dire que la qualité est laissée derrière.
