Source text - Spanish El uso de semillas Lolium multiflorum Lam en Uruguay ha sido de 9.400 toneladas en el año 2007, siendo el mayor volumen producido en el país. De toda la producción de semillas, un volumen insignificante corresponde a semillas con certificación. Actualmente existen leyes que establecen que todas las semillas en el mercado deben tener idenitficaion varietal.
A pesar de ello, durante los últimos 10 o 15 años, ha habido un aumento en el uso de semillas extranjeras. El objeto de este experimento es demostrar que los diferentes lotes recogidos actualmente corresponden año tipo varietal, a pesar de estar identificadas como LE 284.
Translation - English The use of Lolium multiflorum Lam. seed in Uruguay in 2007 has increased to 9.400 tons, the greatest volume of seed produced in the country. However, only an insignificant share of the entire production of seed corresponds to certified seed. Nowadays there are laws which stipulate that all the seed in the market should have varietal identification.
Despite this, for the last 10-15 years there has been an increase in the use of foreign cultivars. The aim of this experiment is to prove that the different commercial seed lots currently being collected and identified as LE 284 cultivar, actually correspond to the varietal type.

Source text - Spanish A partir de su célebre análisis de Cajas de Brillo (la obra de Andy Warhol que marcó un punto de inflexión en el curso del arte del Siglo XX), el filósofo Arthur Danto definió el dilema de Eurípides. Aquel dramaturgo griego fue famoso por el naturalismo de sus tragedias, que hacían sentir al público que estaban presenciando situaciones reales y no representaciones altamente codificadas.
Para los defensores de la mimesis y el ilusionismo en las artes figurativas (y también en el arte dramático, donde la mimesis juega un importante papel), el acercamiento entre la obra de arte y el objeto en el mundo al que se refiere es positivo. Translation - English Following his celebrated analysis of Andy Warhol’s Brillo Boxes, which became the turning point in 20th Century Art, philosopher Arthur Danto defined the dilemma of Euripides. The Greek playwright was famous for the naturalism of his tragedies, which made the audience fell that they were witnesses to real situations rather than elaborately encoded representations.
For those supporting mimesis and illusionism in figurative art – as well as in drama, where mimesis plays a central role – the bringing together of the work of art and the worldly object it relates to is a positive occurrence. But, when examining Warhol’s work, Danto claimed that Western art had reached the culmination of the process: for the unaware the actual boxes of Brillo (a scouring pad used for dish washing) are indistinguishable from the Brillo Boxes.

Source text - Italian Lo sviluppo è un aspetto non di primaria importanza in quanto l’azienda produce paste alimentary secche con poche variant generalmente legate a richieste dei client per aggiunta di vitamine od altri aspetti di semplice gestione. Tuttavia, va meglio gestita la verifica della shelf-life anche in funzione di richieste diverse da parte dei clienti che richiedono talvolta due, a volte tre anni dalla produzione.
Non vi sono criticità per gli aspetti relativi agli OGM in quanto si è analizzata la problematica escludendo tale possibilità.
Anche per gli allergeni la problematica è stata ben analizzata considerando oltre chiaramente il glutine anche l’uovo presente in alcuni prodotti e realizzato in due linee dedicate.
L’azienda è dotata di metal detector che in continuo controllano tutte le confezione per cui tale rischio appare ben gestito. Vi è un sistema de espulsione regolarmente testato in corso di produzione con registrazione degli esiti.
Il rilascio dei prodotti avviene solo al termine del processo di confezionamento ed esito regolare di tutti i controlli per cui solo i prodotti idonei giungono al magazzino di stoccaggio per la spedizione.
I controlli analitici sono effettuati in parte internamente ed in parte con l’ausilio di un laboratorio accreditato in base alla ISO 17025 ed evidenziano una situazione soddisfacente con valori sempre nella norma. Vanno meglio organizzate e gestite le prove effettuate per testimoniare la bontà ed affidabilità delle prove interne fatte per confronto con laboratorio esterno.
Translation - English Development is not an essential aspect given that the company produces dry pasta with few variants generally related to client requests for the adding of vitamins or other easily handled matters. However, the checking of product shelf-life particularly with the diverse requests from clients who sometimes buy the production of two and sometimes even three years can be improved. Aspects related to GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) are not critical given that the issue is analysed to exclude such a possibility. Also for allergens, the issue is properly analysed, thoroughly evaluating the gluten and egg present in some products and manufactured in two dedicated lines.
The company is equipped with metal detectors continually controlling all manufacturing which appears to be well managed. There is an ejection system regularly tested during production with properly recorded results.
Product release takes place only at the end of the manufacturing process and only products which have successfully passed all usual controls reach the storage warehouse for shipment.
Tests are performed in-house as well as with the help of a laboratory certified according to ISO 17025 always showing satisfactory results within guidelines. The in-house tests for product quality and reliability are better organised and managed than those carried out externally.

We are a husband and wife team based in South America, translating and proofreading translations for the local business and culture sectors for the past 10 years.
Ron Widd is a British linguist currently living in Uruguay who holds a BA in Modern Languages from the University of Westminster, as well as postgraduate courses from the Universities of Lampeter and Swansea in Wales. His areas of expertise include legal translations, having worked as a court interpreter in the U.S., technical translations, with wide experience in translating automotive manuals and literary texts, with several published translations on art, photography and literary criticism.
Patricia Antuña is Uruguayan (South America) and holds a BA from the University of London. She has worked for many years in advertising and publishing in Uruguay, including voiceovers and screen translations. She is currently reading Stylistics and Spanish style correction at University and teaching English literature to college students and Legal English to law students and practising lawyers. She specialises in legal translations, literary texts, education and pedagogy and Latin American studies and Literature.
We both have wide experience translating to and from English, both in literary and in technical fields, as well as vast knowledge of cultural and historical matters related to regional affairs. Having lived in the area for the past eight years, closely working within the local business sector, Agriculture, Fisheries and Food are subjects with which we are in daily contact.
We have recently undertaken the training of junior translators in order to help them sit for their Institute of Linguists’ Diploma in Translation and ATA examinations and have been successfully working with these teams of young professionals for the past two years.
