Det är långt kvar, men jag ser toppen 500-600 höjdmeter högre upp – dit ska vi. Steg för steg. Otroligt, jag kan gå rakt uppför, utan att åka bakåt. Ena foten framför den andra, lunken blir näst intill meditativ, jag finns, jag lever, jag och kroppen mår bra.
Translation - English With food and warm clothing in our rucksacks and climbing skins under our randonnee skis, my friends and I are on our way up. Soon I have to stop to take off my jumper and to open the side zips on my trousers. I look back, and down. Even though we’ve only been going for fifteen minutes we’ve climbed fifty metres or so. There’s a long way left, but I can see the top, 500-600 metres above me – we’re going up there. Step by step. Amazing, I can go straight up, no sliding backwards. One foot in front of the other, the pace becomes almost meditative; I am, I live, my body and I feel good.

Source text - Swedish En myr kan bestå av en mosaik av olika kärr och mossar. Skillnaden mellan dessa är att kärret förutom nederbörden får sitt vatten från grundvattnet i närliggande marker, medan mossen får det från regn och snö. Det innebär att kärret har en betydligt större artvariation än en mosse eftersom kärrvattnet passerat jordlagren som berikat vattnet med näringssalter. Mossen däremot blir alltid mycket näringsfattig. När ett kärr vuxit sig tillräckligt tjockt kan det övergå till en mosse, eftersom torven då ligger högre än vad grundvattnet kommer åt underifrån.
Translation - English A mire can consist of a mosaic of different fens and bogs. The difference between these is that a fen not only gets water from precipitation, but also from the ground-water in the surrounding ground, while a bog only gets water from rain and snow. This means that a fen has a considerably greater variety of species than a bog because the fen water has passed through a layer of soil and become enriched with nutritive salts. A bog, on the other hand, is nutrient poor. When a fen has grown thickly enough it can turn into a bog, because the peat is then lying higher than the ground-water can reach from below.
