English to Spanish: Shakespeare's sonnet XXXVIII Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English Sonnet XXXVIII
How can my muse want subject to invent,
While thou dost breathe, that pour'st into my verse
Thine own sweet argument, too excellent
For every vulgar paper to rehearse?
O! give thy self the thanks, if aught in me
Worthy perusal stand against thy sight;
For who's so dumb that cannot write to thee,
When thou thy self dost give invention light?
Be thou the tenth Muse, ten times more in worth
Than those old nine which rhymers invocate;
And he that calls on thee, let him bring forth
Eternal numbers to outlive long date.
If my slight muse do please these curious days,
The pain be mine, but thine shall be the praise.
Translation - Spanish ¿Cómo puede mi musa inventar temas nuevos
mientras te quede aliento y me puedas prestar]
tus dulces argumentos, ¡ay! demasiado buenos]
como para exponer en una obra vulgar?
A ti misma agradece si algo yo te escribí
valioso, que tu vista admire con cuidado;
porque ¿quién es tan mudo de no escribirte a ti,]
si tú misma al ingenio tu luz le has prestado?
Diez veces más valiosa, sé la décima Musa
más que las otras nueve que el rimador invoca
y deja que produzca aquél que de ti usa
un verso inmortal que a la edad provoca.
Si el nivel de esta época mi leve musa alcanza,
mío será el dolor, mas tuya la alabanza.
EDUCATION
I got a CUM LAUDE in the subject "Translation: History and practice" at University. The professor explained to me that I would get a "cum laude" if I delivered him a sonnet from Shakespeare perfectly translated into Spanish with rhyme and in 14-syllables lines.
EXPERIENCE
I have been translating texts since I was at University. Therefore I am a translator with more than 18 years of experience. I have worked on many kinds of texts, specially on cinema, documentaries or sports.
PERSONALITY
Due to my character, I am reliable in doing my work, since I submit it always on time and my clients have always been glad of them. I am a very responsible and constant worker, which I think are two important qualities when you translate.
