I am a German to English translator, located in Birmingham, Alabama, with an interest in arts and literary translation and experience in subtitling, narrative, poetry and essays in performance history. As a translator, I have worked with old German handwriting, poetry from the 1930's, 19th and 20th century theater adaptations and essays in performance history, among other subject matter. I translate from German to English and French to English.
My dissertation for the Ph.D. in German Literature at Indiana University (1990) focused on the performance/production history of Goethe's "Faust II." I have served as a writing instructor and dissertation mentor at the University of Phoenix, as well as teaching German and French at the high school and college level and to children and teenagers. I have worked as a dramaturg, created adaptations of plays for the stage and directed several short children's plays in German.
I provide developmental editing services and proofreading services, as well as compile back-of-the-book indexes.
My current projects include writing a book on fairy tales and learning more about play structure and film writing.
