Legal:
Legal is one of my strongest specialties. Up to now I already have 15 years experiences in translating legal documents. For 4 years I work full-time for the Information Section of US China Embassy, and responsible for government and legal material translations. During my 10-year freelancing career, I have handled on a daily basis contractual, corporate code of conduct and all forms of legal translations.
Financial:
Financial is also one of my strongest specialties. I have been dealing with technical financial translations for over 15 years. I worked full-time for London Financial Times as a senior translator, and translated all kinds of business, financial and stock related materials. I have also extensive experience in handling insurance, future and derivative related translations. During my freelancing career, I also worked for the World Bank China Branch, and worked as senior financial editor for Andovar, Translatemedia, KK Stone and Longwing Translations, translating a large amount of prospectus and other financial related articles. I'm also skilled in advertisement, brochure and marketing material translations, which are usually of lower difficulties.
News and Commentary:
At US China Embassy I was responsible for doing the Washington Post, translating major Chinese newspaper articles and commentaries daily into English and send back to Washington for their references. Now I have been freelancing for more than 8 years for the world's leading news engine Project Syndicate, an international organization that has built established member paper networks around the globe. They invite world famous politicians, economists and think tanks to write commentaries for them, and my duty is to translate them with a fast turn-around for the Chinese audiences. I am one of the most senior translators with Project Syndicate, and they have always been satisfied with my service.
Medical:
Medical is one of my later acquired expertise, but in this field I also have strong confidence. I have been working for Varian Medical Systems on oncology equipment brochure translations for over 5 years. Our cooperation extended gradually from medical related to other fields as well, and I am the trusted translator they will turn to whenever they have a translation request. I am also the hand-picked translator for Ultradent, the US company producing tooth bleaching products. I frequently handle patient instructions, end user manuals, product brochures and clinical studies papers, ranging from slight, moderate to considerable technical difficulties. Sample works and references will be provided upon request.
Website localization:
Two years ago, I worked for almost one whole year on contractual basis for then Overture, later Go to, now Yahoo search's China entry program. I cooperated with Bowne Global Solutions(GBS) to do QA on their translated materials. I also worked for paypal on a similar basis, which recently established its Chinese website. I did part of the Chinese site localization, and contributed to the Quality Control Process. I am also a hand-picked QA expert for the leading localizer Moravia IT, and worked for over 7 years now to do their assigned QA tasks.
