English to Portuguese: Translation of an interview about the relationship of cities and music. Detailed field: Music
Source text - English For the time being, my home city is New York. I’ve lived there on and off 8 of the last 13 years. I’d like to be able to say that it is my soul’s battery, an energy source so pure and direct that time spent away leaves me reduced to a husk for this is the image painted by so many creative New Yorkers, of a city generating that art-fuel by some divine alchemy, but this is not my experience. I’m less inclined to praise the place – true it sometimes provides the environment for profound art experiences, and I’ve met a lot of great people in my time in NY, but it remains an extreme in my mind of discomfort verging on abuse. People don’t show up on NYC’s doorstep devoid of talent, begging for a purpose –– the city is a magnet for people from all over the country, all over the world, and unfortunately, NYC’s environment corrupts and impoverishes as much as it sustains and inspires. My chosen city is London – I don’t yet live there, but I’ve the temperament of a Londoner much more than that of a New Yorker. I’m fed by long meandering walks (it’s hard to meander in a grid city like NYC), and hours of quiet reflection in a park (parks in NYC are magnificent when you can find them, but they tend to be crowded, loud and treated more as outdoorsy theme parks rather than spaces built to allow citizens to connect with nature and recharge), and good conversation. I get some good conversation in both NYC and London. I’m currently writing this reply on a lake a few hundred miles north west of the city, which may help to frame my stance. I hate the city because it’s a big bold brash place. I love the city because so many opportunities are there, and because it’s a gateway to the rest of the world for me, figuratively and literally.
Translation - Portuguese Atualmente, meu lar é Nova Iorque. Vivi aqui por indas e vindas em 8 dos últimos 13 anos. Gostaria de poder dizer que é a bateria da minha alma, uma fonte de energia tão pura a direta que o tempo gasto aqui me deixa reduzido a uma casca que é a imagem pintada por tantos nova iorquinos criativos, de uma cidade que gera combustível de arte por alguma alquimia divina, mas esta não é minha experiência. Sou menos favorável a celebrar o lugar- é verdade que às vezes isso oferece ao ambiente profundas experiencias de arte, e encontrei várias pessoas incríveis no meu tempo em Nova Iorque, mas isso continua extremo em mente do desconforto perto do abuso. As pessoas não aparecem na porta de Nova Iorque desprovido de talento, implorando por um propósito- a cidade é um imã para as pessoas de todo o país, de todo o mundo, e infelizmente, o ambiente de NYC corrompe e empobrece tanto quanto a sustem e inspira. Minha cidade escolhida é Londres- não vivo lá ainda, mas tenho temperamento mais de um londrino do que de um nova iorquino. Me alimento de longas e caminhas (é difícil de perambular sem destino em uma cidade- matriz como NYC) e horas de reflexões quietas em um parque (parques em NYC são magníficos quando consegue encontrá-los, mas tendem a ser lotados, barulhentos e tratados mais como parques de diversão ao ar livre do que espaços construídos para permitir cidadãos a conectar com a natureza e recarregar), e uma boa conversa. Eu consigo uma boa conversa tanto em Nova Iorque quanto em Londres. Estou escrevendo agora esta resposta em um lago a poucos quilômetros do noroeste da cidade, que me ajuda a moldar esta posição. Odeio a cidade porque é um grande lugar esmagador. Eu amo a cidade porque tantas oportunidades estão lá e porque é um portão para o resto do mundo pra mim, figurativamente e literalmente.

LANGUAGES:
Native in Brazilian Portuguese.
C2 level in English. Excellent knowledge of grammar, punctuation and idioms (one of my favourite hobbies is to learn and catalogue them).

As a teacher/tutor:
Over 10 years of experience as a teacher in some prestigious Brazilian Language Schools for all levels (CNA), including multilevel groups (Wise Up). I also have vast experience of Communicative Approach and Task-Based Learning.
I can also teach Portuguese and can cover all levels.
- Normally I prepare tailored lessons for students after evaluating their strong points and points for improvement.
What I can offer...
1. Great translation of texts in English into Brazilian Portuguese. The devil lives in details, and I certainly have an eye for these.
