Source text - German Es war einmal ein kleiner Hase mit himmelblauen Ohren. Als er merkte, dass die Ohren der anderen Hasen nicht die gleiche Farbe hatten, fing er an, sich zu schämen. Er ging ihnen aus dem Weg und spielte lieber mit sich allein. Sein einziger Freund war der Mond am Himmel. Er klagte ihm seinen Kummer, doch der Mond blieb stumm. Ich will in die Welt hinauswandern, wo mich niemand kennt, dachte der kleine Hase.
Er machte sich auf den Weg, und nur der Mond begleitete ihn. Aber wo er auch hinkam, erregten seine Ohren Neugier, und überall wurde er ausgelacht. Ich gehöre nirgends dazu, dachte der kleine Hase, und schuld an meinem Unglück sind die himmelblauen Ohren.
Da fand er vor einem Bauernhaus den Hut eines Kaminfegers. Das ist genau das, was mir fehlt, dachte der kleine Hase und versteckte seine Ohren unter dem Kaminfegerhut. Er lernte, durch Kamine zu klettern, mit Besen umzugehen und Öfen zu reinigen. „Nun gehöre ich auch dazu, zu den Kaminfegern“, sagte der kleine Hase. Aber eines Tages blieb sein Hut in einem Rauchfang hängen, und die anderen Kaminfeger entdeckten seine himmelblauen Ohren. Sie fingen an, laut zu lachen und riefen: „Du bist ja gar kein richtiger Kaminfeger.“ Da schämte sich der kleine Hase, lief davon und nur der Mond begleitete ihn.
Da fand er vor einem Gasthaus den Hut eines Kochs. Das ist genau, was mir fehlt, dachte der kleine Hase und versteckte seine Ohren unter der Kochmütze. Er lernte, mit Töpfen zu hantieren, Gemüse zu kochen und Fleisch zu braten. „Nun gehöre ich auch dazu, zu den Köchen“, sagte der kleine Hase. Aber eines Tages fiel sein Hut in die Suppe, und die anderen Köche entdeckten seine himmelblauen Ohren. Sie fingen an, laut zu lachen und riefen: „Du bist ja gar kein richtiger Koch.“ Da schämte sich der kleine Hase, lief davon und nur der Mond begleitete ihn.
Da fand er vor einem Schuppen den Hut eines Gärtners. Das ist genau, was mir fehlt, dachte der kleine Hase und versteckte seine Ohren unter dem Gärtnerhut. Er lernte, die Erde umzugraben, Bäume zu pflanzen und Blumen zu pflegen. „Nun gehöre ich auch dazu, zu den Gärtnern“, sagte der kleine Hase. Aber eines Tages blies ihm der Wind den Hut vom Kopf, und die andern Gärtner entdeckten seine himmelblauen Ohren. Sie fingen an, laut zu lachen und riefen: „Du bist ja gar kein richtiger Gärtner.“ Da schämte sich der kleine Hase, lief davon, und nur der Mond begleitete ihn.
Da fand er vor dem Zirkus den Hut eines Clowns. Das ist genau, was mir fehlt, dachte der kleine Hase und versteckte seine Ohren unter dem Clownshut. Er lernte, über die Füße zu stolpern und Grimassen zu schneiden. „Nun gehöre ich auch dazu, zu den Clowns“, sagte der kleine Hase. Aber eines Tages stahl ihm ein Affe den Hut vom Kopf, und die anderen Clowns entdeckten seine himmelblauen Ohren. Sie fingen an, laut zu lachen und riefen: „Du bist ja gar kein richtiger Clown.“ Da schämte sich der kleine Hase, lief davon und nur der Mond begleitete ihn.
Da fand er unter einer Brücke den Hut eines Vagabunden. Das ist genau, was mir fehlt, dachte der kleine Hase und versteckte seine Ohren unter dem Vagabundenhut. Er lernte zu faulenzen, im Schatten zu liegen und zu träumen. „Nun gehöre ich auch dazu, zu den Vagabunden“, sagte der kleine Hase. Aber eines Tages trug der Fluss seinen Hut davon, und die anderen Vagabunden entdeckten seine himmelblauen Ohren. Sie fingen an, laut zu lachen und riefen: „Du bist ja gar kein richtiger Vagabund.“
Da war es der kleine Hase müde, davonzulaufen und Hüte zu tragen. Er setzte sich an einen Weiher, mitten im Wald. Ich bin kein richtiger Kaminfeger, ich bin kein richtiger Koch, ich bin kein richtiger Gärtner, ich bin kein richtiger Clown, und ich bin kein richtiger Vagabund. Was bin ich denn? In diesem Augenblick erschien der Mond, blieb über dem Weiher stehen und verwandelte ihn in einen Spiegel. Im Spiegel entdeckte der kleine Hase einen anderen kleinen Hasen, sich selbst. Und dieser Hase hatte himmelblaue Ohren. Je länger er sie im Mondlicht betrachtete, umso besser gefielen sie ihm. Er wusste auf einmal, schuld an seinem Unglück waren nicht die himmelblauen Ohren, sondern nur, dass er sich ihrer geschämt hatte.
Der kleine Hase lief nach Hause zurück. Der Mond begleitete ihn. Unterwegs begegnete er den Vagabunden, den Clowns, den Gärtnern, den Köchen und den Kaminfegern. Stolz zeigte er ihnen seine himmelblauen Ohren, und keiner dachte daran, ihn auszulachen. Trotzdem war er froh, dass er gelernt hatte, durch Kamine zu klettern, mit Besen umzugehen, Öfen zu reinigen, mit Töpfen zu hantieren, Gemüse zu kochen, Fleisch zu braten, die Erde umzugraben, Bäume zu pflanzen, Blumen zu pflegen, Trompete zu spielen, über die Füße zu stolpern, Grimassen zu schneiden, zu faulenzen, im Schatten zu liegen und zu träumen.

Translation - Indonesian Dahulu kala, ada seekor kelinci bertelinga biru langit. Kelinci-kelinci lainnya menjulukinya si Telinga Biru. Ia sadar, tidak ada kelinci yang memiliki warna telinga yang sama dengannya. Ia merasa malu. Ia lebih suka berjalan-jalan dan bermain sendirian.
Satu-satunya teman yang ia miliki adalah Bulan di langit. Dia mengeluhkan kesedihannya pada Bulan, walau Bulan tidak pernah menjawab.
Ia pun pergi dan hanya ditemani Bulan. Namun, di manapun ia datang, ia selalu ditertawakan. Telinganya selalu menarik perhatian. Telinga Biru sangat sedih. Ia merasa telinganya yang membuat ia sial.
Suatu hari, ia menemukan sebuah topi milik pembersih cerobong asap di rumah petani. Telinga Biru lalu menutupi telinganya di bawah topi pembersih cerobong asap itu. Ia lalu belajar untuk memanjat cerobong asap, mengunakan sapu, dan membersihkan tungku pembakaran.
“Sekarang aku juga cocok menjadi petugas pembersih cerobong asap,” umam Telinga Biru gembira.
Suatu hari, topi Telinga Biru tersangkut di cerobong asap. Telinga Birunya langsung terlihat. Pembersih cerobong asap lainnya segera menatap telinga si Telinga Biru. Mereka mulai tertawa dan berkata, “Kamu pasti petugas pembersih palsu!”
Si Telinga Biru malu dan pergi. Hanya bulan yang menemaninya.
Ia lalu menemukan sebuah topi koki di sebuah penginapan. Ia sangat gembira dan menutupi telinganya di bawah topi koki. Ia belajar memasak sayur-mayur dan membakar daging. “Sekarang aku juga cocok menjadi koki,” ujar si kelinci kecil bertelinga biru.
Sayangnya, suatu hari, topi kokinya jatuh ke dalam sup. Para koki lainnya menatap telinganya yang berwarna biru langit. Mereka mulai tertawa dan berkata, “Kamu pasti koki palsu!” Kelinci Kecil malu dan segera pergi lagi. Hanya bulan yang menemaninya.
Tak lama kemudian, Telinga Biru menemukan sebuah topi milik tukang kebun di sebuah gubuk. Lagi-lagi ia memakai topi temuannya untuk menutupi telinganya. Ia juga belajar mencangkul tanah, mananam pohon, dan memetik bunga-bunga. “Sekarang aku juga cocok menjadi tukang kebun!” gumamnya.
Sayangnya, suatu hari angin menerbangkan topi itu. Tukang kebun lainnya melihat telinga biru langitnya. Mereka mulai tertawa dan berkata, “Kamu pasti tukang kebun yang palsu!”
Lagi-lagi kelinci kecil malu dan pergi. Hanya bulan yang menemaninya.
Ia menemukan topi milik badut di suatu tempat sirkus. Ia segera menutupi telinganya di bawah topi badut. Ia belajar untuk tersandung di atas kakinya dan tersenyum menyeringai. “Sekarang aku juga cocok menjadi badut,” ujar kelinci kecil itu.
Sayangnya, suatu hari, seekor monyet mengambil topi badut itu. Badut lainnya menatap telinga biru lanitnya dan tertawa. “Kamu pasti badut palsu!” Kelinci kecil malu dan pergi, hanya bulan yang menemaninya.
Ia lalu menemukan topi milik gelandangan di bawah jembatan. Kembali ia memakai topi temuannya untuk menutupi teliganya. Ia belajar untuk bermalas-malasan, berbaring, dan mengkhayal di bawah bayangan jembatan. “Sekarang aku juga cocok menjadi gelandangan,” pikirnya.
Akan tetapi, suatu hari, arus sungai menghanyutkan topinya. Gelandangan lain menatap telinga biru langitnya dan tertawa. “Kamu pasti gelandnagan palsu!”
Kelinci kecil lelah untuk melarikan diri dan mengenakan banyak topi. Ia duduk sendirian di tengah pinggir kolam di tengah hutan.
Aku bukan penyapu cerobong asap, bukan koki, bukan tukang kebut, bukan badut, dan bukan gelandangan. Lalu apakah aku ini?
Dalam sekejap, Bulan bersinar ke kolam dan membentuk cermin di sana. Di cermin itu kelinci kecil itu menatap bayangan kelinci. Itulah dirinya. Kelinci di cermin itu tampak memiliki telinga biru langit. Semakin lama ia menatapnya di sinar bulan, ia semakin terlihat mirip kelinci kecil. Ia pun mengerti. Tidak beruntung itu bukan berasal dari telinga biru langitnya. Namun karena ia selalu merasa malu akan dirinya sendiri.
Telinga Biru lalu pulang kembali ke rumah. Bulan menemaninya. Di perjalanan ia berpapasan dengan gelandangan, badut, tukang kebun, tukang masak, dan pembersih cerobong asap. Dengan bangga ia menunjukan pada mereka telinga biru langitnya. Anehnya, tak ada yang menertawakannya.
Telinga Biru tetap gembira akan pengalamannya itu. Ia sudah belajar memanjat cerobong asap, menggunakan sapu, membersihkan tungku pembakaran, memasak sayur-mayur, memanggang daging, mencangkul tanah, menanam pohon, memetik bunga, bermain terompet, tersenyum menyeringai, bermalas-malasan, berbaring, dan berkhayal di bawah bayangan jembatan.
