Hello from London.
I am Nam Vo and I have been living here for nearly 20 years. When I left Vietnam I had worked for 6 years at Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. During the time there I translated many articles from both English and Russian into Vietnamese for a scientific magazine.
For 4 years 1997-2000 I ONLY studied English, acquiring CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) from Cambridge University – a level of English going a bit further into literature intended for law students, and CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching for Adults) also from Cambridge University. In 2000 I was offered work in Poland and Thailand as an English teacher but I decided to stay on in England. In 2003 I worked as a sessional programming lecturer for under graduate students and a part-time translator/interpreter. I have been a full time translator and interpreter since 2004. The same year I also founded Vietnam Connect.
For many years the company mainly translated between English and Vietnamese. Recently I have expanded to other languages in the South East Asia as regular clients started asking me to do more languages. I have paid translators residing in USA, Europe, Asia, Australia and I can ask translators and interpreters working with me for over 5 years to provide reference as a reliable payer.
I have been working as a regular translator for some of the top translation agencies in the world for many years , taking on both translation and proofreading jobs from as little as few words to as big as few hundred pages. I translate both ways from English to Vietnamese and vice versa. As an interpreter I do both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting. I have worked in Hong Kong, Austria, France as a conference interpreter.
In 2009, I worked for Middlesex University as an external assessor for their MA Degree in Translations. I have also been a regular translator for some UK Universities since 2006. In 2014 I was selected by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, the oldest law firm in England and the top ranked law firm for European, UK and Asia-Pacific M&A after they conducted interviews with different candidates to pick an interpreter for their trial in Cayman Island.
I have a BSc from Vietnam National University in Mathematics, an MA in Applied Translations from University of East Anglia and a DPI (Police Diploma in Interpreting from the Institute of Linguists). I am a member of several professional translation organisations and my Translator’s Certificate is accepted by English Courts.
To sharpen my language skills currently I am also working as a part-time freelance immigration case worker supervised by Wick & Co Solicitors in Pinner, North of London. I have drafted many legal arguments and have won cases for immigration clients.
As a translation service provider I offer QUALITY at a FAIR price and I am always happy to translate a small amount of words for FREE. My greatest asset is to provide an edge for start-up translation companies or to help those big names in the industry maintain their leading positions.
The list of projects, agencies, companies, institutions and universities I have worked for can always be provided upon request.
I usually stay in Vietnam for 2-4 months a year and the rest of the year in the UK. For 24 hours contact please Viber me on 0044 77 12 19 11 00 or email:
