I returned to Spain in August 2020 after nine years in the UK; I previously lived in Italy for six years and many years in southern Spain. As well as fluency in both languages, I have a deep understanding of the culture and lifestyles of both countries. My translation experience in Italy included extensive projects for the Slow Food organisation: gastronomy, regional specialities and the politics of food.
In 2012 I completed a PGCE in Modern Languages at Bath Spa University, which included two school placements and three assignments at Masters level. This enhanced both my knowledge of the education sector and my writing and research skills.
I have worked full-time as a freelance translator/proofreader since September 2012, dealing with documents of all kinds and many fields, including children’s books, screenplays, health & beauty, tourism, gastronomy and more. I have never missed a deadline and always received excellent feedback for my services.
In July 2015 I attended the Translate in the City summer school at City University, London, an inspiring week devoted to literary translation. I have since published several literary pieces on the website booksinitaly.com and was also the winner of the Italian section of the And Other Stories annual competition. In 2021 I was shortlisted for the Peirene Stevns Translation Prize. |
