Source text - Chinese
Translation - English Rubens took hold of me and hugged me close as he comforted me. I held on to his hand and we stood there for ages, watching as the night sky was gradually reflected on the waters of the ocean. Then the stars appeared, one by one until the sky was filled with a number of brilliant stars. “When I look at these stars, I realize that nothing really matters right now,” Rubens said. “Five years later, all the troubles of today seem so insignificant.” I nodded my head furiously in agreement. Under that starry sky, I felt so very small and insignificant.
We gazed at the sky above us, and through my tears, I could see the flickering stars. On a night with such dazzling stars in the sky, I realized that my troubles weren’t really that serious. I’m still alive. I still love Rubens, and he loves me back. The stars are shining brightly in the sky, just like the love between us.

Translation - English When entering from the interior of the mall, patrons will stand at the center of the store and see a bright, square-shaped area designated for leather crafted products which is flanked on the left and right by two independent areas that are dedicated to high-class jewelry and equestrian items. With this square-shape acting as the core of the store, Hermès arranged their many different products in an ordered display throughout the store. Here the atmosphere is warmer and patrons will discover the Hermès home product series which include Pippa furniture, and a secluded, private area reserved for jewelry and watches, and women’s apparel. When entering from the street-side façade, patrons will pass through the men’s silk products and accessories area by following the mosaic floor to explore the Hermès world for men. The entire store is enveloped in a sea of red, and an ingenious use of light and shadow aptly exhibits the spirit of Hermès, drawing patrons deeper into the store to select the handcrafted products that they desire.

Translation - English Dali and the romance of the four famous sights - wind, flower, snow and moon
Since ancient times, Dali has been well-known for its famous sights of wind, flower, snow and moon – these being the ‘wind’ of the Xianguan County, ‘flowers’ of the Shangguan County, ‘snow’ of the Cangshan Mountains, and the ‘moon’ of Erhai Lake.
‘Wind’ of Xiaguan County: spring and winter are the windy seasons in Xiaguan, averaging over 35 days of strong gales that can reach a maximum wind speed of level 10 on the Beaufort scale every year. Due to the uniqueness of the Xiaguan terrain, the wind produces a natural yet peculiar sight by scuttling up before dropping back down again. The mouth of the wind tunnel is located at the side of the naturally formed ravine bridge where water exits into the Erhai Lake (known also as the Xi’er River). At the mouth of the river is a “black dragon” bridge which separates Xiaguan (Dali city) into two sections: the internal section on the northern side, and an external section on the southern side. Here, two mountains (Cangshan Mountain and Ailao Mountain) narrow towards each other and form a trough in the middle. The winds that blow in the external section are usually southern winds, and as the Cangshan Mountain blocks the seasonal winds from the southwest, the wind from the south gushes through the trough and then scuttles up at the exit, causing this peculiar natural phenomenon – as if a hat lifted by the wind off the head of a person heading north, lands in front of the person when it should land behind them.
“Flowers” of Shangguan County: this is actually located within the He Mountain temple approximately five kilometers away from Shangguan. According to the records in the DaliFu Zhi (also known as Between Winds and Clouds), the trees on this mountain seemed to be Cinnamon-like and 60 feet tall with white 12-petal flowers – one to match each month of the year with the occasional extra petal to symbolize the Chinese calendar phenomena for an extra day in leap years. As you may have realized by now, the Bai people's love of flowers is integrated into their lives,.
“Snow” of Cangshan Mountain: leading from Kunming to Dali – along to edges of the Anxi mountains around the Midu County – is a visible line of silver ‘pens’ that pierce the sky, with peaks untouched by the seasons accumulating snow all year long – this is what we call the “snow” of Cangshan Mountain. Because of heavy snow fall during winter and lack of thawing throughout the years, a brilliant shroud-like silver snow-mantle can still be seen to cap the peaks during summer.
“Moon” of Erhai River: the waters of the Erhai River are extremely translucent and the surface is filled with rippling jade waves. Upon approach of the shore on the night of a fine day, a pale moon can be seen suspended up in the sky while a shimmering clear moon can be seen drifting along with the waves where the moonlight connects with the waters below.

Translation - English In Delicatessen, Louison arrives for the first time at the butcher’s boucherie (butchery), and the composition of this shot where he stands outside the door making an inquiry to the butcher is extremely symbolical. The butcher occupies over half the frame on the left side: in the centre is the opened door of the boucherie clearly labelled above the door in French as a “Boucherie.” The short figure of Louison stands to the side of the boucherie and occupies a mere quarter of the frame which portrays him as the weaker party. This scene is followed by a close-up of the butcher fiercely slashing with his knife. These shots are arranged to be profoundly metaphorical: the shot showing the conversation between the butcher and Louison informs us of the cruel butcher’s position of absolute dominance and Louison's position of the oppressed. Combining these shots with the label of the “boucherie” and the scene of the rapid slashing produces a profound metaphor that forecasts Louison’s prospects – a comparison that his arrival at the boucherie makes him the meat with which the butcher works with, and that his future is ominously predicted to be the same as the wooden pole that was just slashed. This is very symbolical as it heightens the atmosphere for the future horrific, bizarre, and intriguing developments in the plot.
