Welcome to my profile,
My name is Christian Esquivel and I have been using both English and Spanish on a daily basis since my very early childhood. I lived in Houston, TX, USA for a few years and then moved back to Colombia when I was still a very young child.
My Elementary, Middle and High School Education in Colombia was fully bilingual with English native speakers from several countries as my teachers.
I went to Law School at Universidad Santiago de Cali for my undergraduate studies, and during my third year I engaged in the English business. I started by teaching for ELS Language Centers as an EFL Teacher for a few years and then taught for a few renowned institutions and schools. I obtained a certificate diploma in TEFL in 2007 sponsored by the University of Maryland Baltimore County - UMBC.
I started translating occasionally in 2005 for some pharmaceutical companies while I was a teacher, but it was really in 2009 when I started translating full time while working for my last employer which is a prestigious institution in the city of Cali, Colombia; here I obtained a lot of experience and knowledge. I translated countless projects during my nearly four years working as a Staff Translator. Some of these projects were quite simple such as visa application documents, vital records and such; nevertheless, we also had some major corporate clients in the legal, medical and pharmaceutical areas which ultimately have become my fields of expertise.
I have also completed some projects on steelworks, civil engineering, architecture and other several fields.
I have been a freelancer since February 2013 and now work every day with some very reputable clients, such as CROs and Life Sciences agencies.
I am capable of handling 3,500 to 5,500 words daily since I've worked with translations for 8 to 10 hours a day from Monday to Friday for 8.5 years.
I ensure quality, compliance with deadlines and professionalism in all of my projects.
I look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Christian J. Esquivel
