With a degree in engineering, I specialize in science and technology translations, including operational and maintenance manuals, patents, and other technical documentation. And as well as possessing specialist vocabulary, I can easily comprehend and express how a machine operates, or explain what the technological processes are about - something which is not always clear to pure linguists. My background and extensive experience in technical translations have helped me to attain the IoLET’s Diploma in Translation (DipTrans) with distinction in translation tests for science and technology.
However, my expertise is not limited only to science and technology: I have also had extensive experience in marketing and management which was obtained working as a marketing research manager for a steel company. This was a role that was combined with a year’s study of Business Administration in the USA. I also translate contracts and other legal documentation, and this is supported by the translation of over 1000 pages of EU legislation and judgments of the European Court of Justice.
I provide both translation and interpreting services, as well as being an interpreter in both consecutive and simultaneous modes. I am self employed, and have been a freelance translator and interpreter since 2002.
