Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if this means bookstore or stationery store?
It's from a Palestinian text.
Here's the sentence:
تسربتُ إلى مكتبة السوق ذات مساء دون علمك.
FRom this place she buys a giant folder/portfolio to put art in.
Thank you!

A stationer / A stationer's
The word مكتبة in Arabic is kind of confusing. It can mean a library, a book store, or a stationer's. Given the context of the sentence, I'd use a stationer's.

yes exactly. Almost all bookshops sell books and stationery items, but I suggested "a stationer's" because I don't know the broader context.

Why ignoring the translation of السوق here?
As you know, libraries are everywhere, in markets, in schools, in universities, in museums...etc. The translation here should not be generalized.

The type of this error affects the accuracy and is called "under-translation", that is to say, the target text is less specific than the source text.
Example:
The source text uses words that refer to a specific type of military officer but the target text refers to military officers in general.

: because in the description, Mr./Ms. Saliha was wondering about the meaning of مكتبة. Who doesn't know the meaning of السوق?

The expression in question is مكتبة السوق, and stationer has not an accurate meaning bro. Someone with less knowledge may think that they are both equivalent. Thanks for the effors you're doing.
