It says the site got registered in 2014 so it seems rather new.

It's daytime now, and I have just tried to contact a certain John Beaven listed as the domain registrant. The listed mobile telephone number is in service but no one picks up. The chat window on the web site stayed 'offline' for a while, then disappeared altogether. That, along with the lack of other legitimate ways to contact the site owners or any other information about them, leads me to an unfortunate conclusion that official ways of legal recourse may have to be used. As I am not alone in my discontent, I think it would be optimal if ProZ.com could seek initial contact as the operator of the database from which the perpetrator harvested its information. Reiterating my initial stance, the gist of my complaint is not about translation.directory reusing publicly available information, but rather about (1) distorting it arbitrarily, and (2) presenting it in a manner purporting it to be placed by myself and without my authorisation to do so. ▲ Collapse

As they copied the information on ProZ I would very much appreciate as well if ProZ could try to solve this problem!

At the top right corner of the box with your name and details there is an option to "modify". If you click this word, you are taken to a Google account login page. This is almost certainly a fake page designed to harvest our Google passwords.

They must this time - unlike the usual scam attempts from Gaza - have harvested the data manually from my proz profile because my CV is only admittable for paying proz members (according to my settings).
So far no answer on my fake job posting. Perhaps the fake adress I have used to contact them is already known and the scammer must be the same organisation as the Gaza connection? Did anybody tried my methode, too?
Yes, the proz people should try to take measures!

This needs to be highlighted in big bold letters. I also clicked on the "Modify" link and big loud alarm bells started ringing!

I just found myself listed too, but interestingly, the listing says I have experience with Wordfast. I stopped using that some time ago and updated my ProZ.com profile in the summer (July, I think) to say that I use Deja Vu. I have never mentioned that I use Wordfast on any site other than ProZ, so I'm guessing my details must have been harvested several months ago at least.

I wonder how old the site is and where it is advertised. If the point is indeed to harvest our Google passwords how did they expect us to find out about the site at all?

No, it's not a fake page. It is a real Google login page.
When you enter your password, Google asks if you want to share your e-mail address with translation.directory. At that point, you can still answer "no" and no information will be shared. But if you do answer "yes", then translation.directory will know your e-mail address and will therefore be able to associate your e-mail address with your profile with a very high degree of certainty.
And of course, if you use your Google account for other social network posts that are public, translation.directory may be able to grab more information about you. But your password is safe.
However, after I've given permission, the "modify" button redirects to a JavaScript error message.

Well, Gudrun, how about Big Brother Google? Surely they will come up with "new" info about you and your services somehow. Just give it some time.
I've tried to get a hold of the owner of that site, but he keeps himself well guarded. Most probably cause he's tired of being asked to remove false entries he's made without anybody's approval. Trust Google and see what happens.
