Thank you, Leon for your very kind offer. I'll take you up on that if I get stuck.
I've already spoken to the North Pole and I'm just waiting for confirmation on the reservation front.
About the Secret Santa, I'm very much up for it, but need to know who else is. I will need your names if you're up for it (first name, last name and email address). I think a limit of £3 or £5 should be ok - after all, we just want a bit of fun. However, if you feel like handing out th... See more Thank you, Leon for your very kind offer. About the Secret Santa, I'm very much up for it, but need to know who else is. I will need your names if you're up for it (first name, last name and email address). I think a limit of £3 or £5 should be ok - after all, we just want a bit of fun. However, if you feel like handing out the latest version of Trados, I'm sure nobody will mind.
I will be sending invitations to those who send me their details. I will be using a website for the purpose - just to keep it really secret:) You will, essentially, get a message from the website telling you who to buy a pressie for. I've used it in the past and there is no risk of spam involved at all. It's quite good like that.
However, since the time is fairly limited, I will need your details NO LATER THAN FRIDAY 8TH DECEMBER!!
So, start sending emails. I do hope you guys agree with it. It should be loads of fun.
So, to sum up:
- the North Pole is sorted (I'll chase them up if I don't hear from them by tomorrow)
- I need the names and emails of those who want to do the Secret Santa. Please observe the deadline above. ▲ Collapse | | | Secret Santa et al | Dec 7, 2006 |

As a matter of fact, someone suggested a more sensible thing - just typical of me not to think of it myself:) : rather than have people sign up, not come, etc, it might be wiser to ask for everyone coming to actually bring something nicely wrapped. Maybe something up to £3 or £5, put it on the table and then we can 'draw' random pressies. This way we avoid disappointments. After all, with all the good intentions in the world, something could come up and prevent people from attending.

Let me know what you think. The only problem I can see with this is that it's potentially forcing people to buy presents. After all, not everyone celebrates Christmas. Can we call them 'winter presents'? Or 'nice to see you' presents? ▲ Collapse | | | Rebekka Groß (X) Local time: 23:59 English to German Edinburgh calling London!!! | Dec 7, 2006 |
Hi Everyone
Just found out about this powwow from Katharina and wanted to say have a great time! Would love to be there! I recognise a few names from the conference last month, so a special 'hello' to Arianna, Jutta, Gillian and Katharina. Hope I haven't overlooked anyone.

Hi Alina,
It doesn't seem a bad idea to go each one with a present. I am going with the majority as usual.
I think that people shouldn't feel forced to buy anything, if someone doesn't want to, there shouldn't be any pressure. I just think it is a nice idea for Christmas/ winter/ friendship...
Inma | | | What a great idea! | Dec 7, 2006 |
I'll bring my pressie nicely wrapped.
See you all!

Hi Rebecca,
I so wanted to come to the Xmas Stammtisch in Edinburgh but then decided that it was a bit extravagant to 'fly to E'burgh for a drink'. Maybe Marion has mentioned something...
I do hope you had a good time! I make sure to visit you all soon!

Arianna | | | Re Xmas - Winter - Friends - Hello Prezzies | Dec 7, 2006 |
Although I have already signed up with the Secret Santa, I think it is a wonderful idea to just bring the prezzies, put them in a box and 'draw' one. Cooool!
I am getting al Christmassy and want to bring a candle (sigh) - I suppose - although I am trying to hold myself back - I like Christmas! (:-)

I'll try to wrap mine nicely, but I'm not very good at it - so whoever gets it - just remember it's been done with love) | | | Christmas Spirit | Dec 8, 2006 |
I'm keen on Christmas as well and might bring something "christmassy" to contribute to the festive atmosphere...
